The Criterion
Situated in the heart of London we are a beautiful opulent Grade II* listed venue with a very rich and famous history. With a breath taking ceiling made of hand made 24 carat gold mosaic tiles, ornate marble and jeweled walls makes us the perfect backdrop to any wedding.
Being able to sit up to 250 people or 160 with, dance floor, drinks & canapé reception area makes the space very versatile for different wedding options.
We will not make you feel like Cinderella on your wedding day having to stop all celebrations before midnight. With the option of a 3am licence you can relax and enjoy the night without the feeling of an early finish.
Fully licensed for civil marriages and partnerships gives you the flexibility to have ceremony & reception under one roof.
If you do decide to have your wedding at The Criterion, you can become part of history and walk in the footsteps of famous names and faces from TV, film, books and history. From the meeting point for Arthur Conan Doyle’s Sherlock Holmes and Doctor Watson to Downton Abbey’s Lady Edith means the Criterion echoes glamour and sophistication from a time gone by. Even The Suffragettes were known to regularly have afternoon tea and meetings at the Criterion as well as Winston Churchill also being a regular.
In modern Day the Criterion has been a backdrop to many films on the silver screen. If your Groom is looking to feel like a knight for the day what better way than to do this than where Batman the dark knight rises was filmed. Other films include Rush, London boulevard, Madonna’s W.E and many more.
So if you are looking for the Wow factor in a unique venue please contact one of the dedicated wedding team at the Criterion to organise a show round over a glass of champagne.
